Whitewater Rafting

It's about 1-1.5 hours away from the Lake Chatuge area, but for those adventure seekers who want to ride white water in the mountains, several options await!

The Chatooga River, located right on the border between Georgia and South Carolina, offers 2 distinct rafting experiences.  Visitors can choose between the "mild and scenic" Section III, or the "wild and scenic" Section IV.

The Nantahala River, located in Western North Carolina, features family-friendly Class II rapids and some Class III rapids.

The Ocoee River, in East Tennessee, was the site of the 1996 Olympic white water rafting competitions.  A dam-released river with consistent flows, this site offers the milder Middle Ocoee trip, or the more strenuous and exciting Upper Ocoee, featuring  Class IV rapids.

The following companies offer exciting adventures on these rivers.  Click on the links to take you to their websites for more information.
